The Annular Solar Eclipse of 2019 became an unforgettable celestial experience for students and astronomy enthusiasts in Surat, thanks to a special observation event organized by SPACE Surat (SPACEWALK Education). With the goal of making astronomical phenomena accessible to all, the event welcomed students from various schools as well as members of the general public, turning the day into a vibrant celebration of science and curiosity.
Equipped with safe solar-viewing instruments and guided by trained educators, participants gathered to witness the rare "ring of fire" phenomenon—an annular eclipse where the Moon covers the center of the Sun, leaving a bright edge glowing around it. For many attendees, it was their first time observing such a spectacular event, and the excitement in the air was palpable.
Adding prestige to the occasion, Mr. Jigish Patel, a former NASA scientist, graced the event as the guest of honor. His presence inspired young learners, as he shared insights about solar eclipses, space science, and the importance of scientific exploration. His words motivated students to continue nurturing their interest in astronomy and STEM fields.
